Super Sugar Delayed Maturity

Super Sugar Delayed Maturity

DM Super Sugar produces increased yields and protein. It grows 25-30 extra days; this increases yield substantially and maintains protein longer. This hybrid allows more time to harvest a highly nutritious forage. Unbeatable conventional summer annual forage grass for hay, grazing, haylage, or cover-crop/carbon-builder. Since this hybrid is later maturing the harvest timing can be delayed to produce a higher yield. Sweet stems and increased leaf to stem ratio ensures a quality of feed cattle prefer over others. Harvest is normally 60-80 days after planting. When planted after wheat this hybrid can be harvested once at 60-80 days instead of twice. This hybrid has quick regrowth suitable for multiple cuttings. Yields can be up 8-10 Ton/Acre dry matter. We have made 18 tons of silage dryland here in Texas. In an irrigated or rainfed field, DM can make 30 Ton/Acre. The TDN can be around 58-62% and protein 14-16%. For cover crop or prevent plant acres this hybrid produces the top yield for organic matter.

Additional Characteristics:
  • Anthracnose & downey mildew resistance
  • Increased protein content
  • Multi or single cut
  • Wider window of harvest timing
  • Begin grazing at 18-24"
  • Water requirement - low
  • 62 F soil temperature for seeding
  • Works well for March to late July seeding
  • Early growth vigor - excellent
  • Harvest at the boot stage or 60-80 inches
  • First cutting 60-80 days
  • Second cutting 40-60 days
  • Third cutting 30-40 days
