Texan triticale is a late winter forage triticale. It has excellent winter hardiness and an excellent choice for grazing and or silage. It is a top producer in Texas, Western Kansas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. It is very drought tolerant and has good stand establishment. Fall ground cover establishment is good and early spring green-up is intermediate. Texan’s fall growth and rapid tillering make it preferable for grazing. Texan has been known to produce in upwards of 20 tons of silage. Customers have commented that Texan packs and yields better than many other varieties on the market.
